Editor's Rating
Loop says that it bases your rate largely on your driving habits, using an app on your phone to track how you drive. The company says it often won’t even raise rates just because of a ticket or first accident.
This is part of the company's mission to make insurance more accessible to historically disadvantaged groups.

How Loop Insurance works
To get coverage from Loop, you must allow the company to track your driving through the Loop mobile app. It tracks your location, speed, mileage and when you drive. It uses this information to determine how safe you are as a driver and to set your rate.
Like most insurance companies, Loop can also use your age, gender, marital status, driving record and exact car to judge how risky you may be. Loop Insurance says it doesn’t use your credit score, income or education level.
To make sure you’re getting the best rate for what you need, get a few quotes and compare them to average rates in Texas.
