The Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card is one of our favorite business credit cards. If your business involves a substantial amount of travel, this card can be both a big point earner, and a good source of free travel. The points you earn through the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card can be primarily used to book hotel stays, and the card has a rewards rate anywhere between 1.8% and 5.4%, based on our estimated point value of $0.009 multiplied by the points earned – this is higher than most other credit card offers out there. Other redemptions, such as airline transfers, also exist. This combination of high rewards rate and redemption flexibility makes the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card well suited for most small businesses that engage in travel.

Review: Is The Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card A Good Investment?

There's no arguing that the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card holds a lot of potential value; whether it's a good investment comes down to how much of that value your business can access. The points earned with this card can be used to book hotel rooms, as well as be turned into airline miles. If either of these appeals to you, the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card may be the right choice for your company.

Whether or not this card is a worth the annual fee (See Rates & Fees) comes down to how many of your businesses' expenses can be charged to it. Given that the card comes with a free night award (after your card account anniversary), your company will break even on the fee provided that you're able to make use of the free night every year. If you're not able to break even on the fee with the free night award, you should ask yourself whether your business will spend enough on the card to earn enough rewards to offset the fee.

Another noteworthy feature of the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card is the access it provides to WiFi on the go. Firstly, primary account holders will be given complimentary premium in-room WiFi when staying at SPG and Marriott hotels. Also, having the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card comes with free membership to Boingo Wifi - a service that provides WiFi through a variety of hotspots all throughout the world. Being a business traveller, having access to e-mail and the web is often crucial - which makes this perk especially helpful.

Bottom Line: Business owners who find themselves having to travel, at least once per year, are likely to find the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card to be a good investment. Between the high rewards rate on general spending, and the ability to transfer rewards points to airline miles, there is a lot of good value here. This is one of the best travel credit cards for business owners.

Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card vs Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business

The Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business doesn’t quite reach the same rewards earning potential that the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card does. Because it is a cash back credit card, however, the rewards your business earns through it are a lot more flexible. How We Calculate Rewards: ValuePenguin calculates the value of rewards by estimating the dollar value of any points, miles or bonuses earned using the card less any associated annual fees. These estimates here are ValuePenguin's alone, not those of the card issuer, and have not been reviewed, approved or otherwise endorsed by the credit card issuer.

Example of how we calculate the rewards rates: When redeemed for travel through Ultimate Rewards, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card points are worth $0.0125 each. The card awards 2 points on travel and dining and 1 point on everything else. Therefore, we say the card has a 2.5% rewards rate on dining and travel (2 x $0.0125) and a 1.25% rewards rate on everything else (1 x $0.0125).
