The U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card has a combination of great flexibility and high rewards. Cardmembers get to earn 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in combined eligible net purchases ($100 per quarter) on two categories you choose. That adds up to $400 cash back! The cap limits this card’s utility to just low and mid spenders. Generally speaking, if you regularly spend more than $8,000 every three months, we calculate that you'll benefit more from a fixed-rate 2% credit card.

Review: Our Thoughts On The U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card
For some consumers, the U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card can easily be one of the best cash back cards to get: Earn 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in combined eligible net purchases ($100 per quarter) on two categories you choose. That adds up to $400 cash back! If you spend heavily in two of the 5% cash back categories, and one of the three 2% cash back categories, this card can be highly rewarding. The U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card is one of the only personal credit cards to allow users to pick the merchants in which they can earn a 5% rewards rate. However, because those categories come with a $2,000 spending cap, we estimate that most people who spend more than $8,000 every three months would be better off with a card like the Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer that offers 1% back on purchases and 1% back when you pay for those purchases. Ultimately, it comes down to how much you optimize your spending in each of those categories, and how much you spend overall that falls outside of the bonus categories.

The U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card currently has a signup bonus of $150 after you spend $500 in eligible net purchases in the first 90 days of account opening
Bottom Line: In the long-term, the U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card can produce significant savings for consumers, as long as they already spend money on the 5% and 2% cash back categories offered by this card. The high rewards rate coupled with the added flexibility of being able to choose your own rewards categories, makes this a great card. High spenders, however, should invest some time into considering other options.
The U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card Benefits & Features
With the U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card, people have the option to choose two categories each quarter in which they can earn 5% cash back on the first $2,000 in combined purchases. In addition to this, one everyday category can be selected in which the cardholder earns 2% back, with no limits. All other purchases charged to the card will earn 1% cash back.
You'll have to log into your account every quarter to identify the bonus categories. You can keep selecting the same category each quarter; they're just not going to carry over. If you forget to pick your bonus categories, the card will award you just 1% back on everything.
There is no minimum redemption requirement for the rewards you earn through this card. That means you can access and withdraw all the cashback you accumulate. Most credit cards will not allow consumers to do this until they have at least $25 in rewards accumulated, which can often lock people out of their rewards for periods of time.

The U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card vs U.S. Bank Perks+ Visa Signature® Card
If you spend a significant amount of money on gas and grocery purchases, the U.S. Bank Perks+ Visa Signature® Card may be a better option for you, if you meet the right criteria. Firstly, even if just 25% of your total purchases fall into categories where you earn 5% cash back, go with the U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card. On average, it will then in the very least give you as good of a return as the Perks+ credit card’s best possible rewards rate.
