How to use 100k Chase Ultimate Rewards points

Chase Ultimate Rewards are regarded as one of the most valuable travel rewards currencies for good reason: there are nearly endless opportunities to redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards for travel and other items.

RedemptionValue
Transfer your points to select airline and hotel programs at a 1:1 ratio.Depends on the program
Book travel within the Chase travel portal (includes flights, hotels, rental cars, vacation rentals and cruises)1.25 cent per point (25% raised value)
Apple Ultimate Rewards Store1 cent per point
Gift cardsVaries
Cash back1 cent per point

Since you will need to spend at least $15,000 in the first 3 months of card membership to obtain the bonus, at minimum, you will end up with 115,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards to spend in the following ways:

  • 115,000 points to your preferred airline program
  • $1,430+ towards travel through the Chase travel portal
  • $1,150+ in gift cards or cash back

There are several other ways to use Chase Ultimate Rewards, but they are best redeemed for travel by transferring them to Chase travel partners.

Chase business credit card eligibility

While these sign-up bonuses are worth grabbing if you can meet the minimum spend requirements, there are a few parameters to keep in mind before you apply.

Chase 5/24 Rule

Under the Chase 5/24 rule, you are excluded from being approved for any Chase credit cards if you have had five credit card approvals from any card issuer in the last 24 months. The rule, which is not publicly advertised by Chase, prevents consumers from signing up for credit cards to earn the sign-up bonus, and then canceling the card.

Requirements for business credit cards

You don’t need to own a large business or have an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to apply for a business credit card. Small business owners, including online resellers, freelancers, tutors, babysitters or rideshare drivers may be eligible to apply.

You may need to supply the following information on your application:

  • Legal business name
  • Business address
  • Type of business
  • Tax identification number
  • Annual business revenue
  • Years in business
  • Monthly business expenses
  • Personal income
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth

Providing your Social Security Number means that you will be held personally responsible for paying the balance off each month. If you only provide an EIN when applying, the credit card company cannot hold you personally liable. Before applying for the Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card or any other business credit card, be sure to consider your business’s financial situation as well as your own.

Should you apply for a Chase business card?

A large sign-up bonus like the 100k offer for the Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card could be tempting to apply for. The offer is paired with a low annual fee and great card benefits, which makes it an outstanding offer for any business owner.

However, before you jump on this offer, make sure you can meet the $15,000 minimum spending requirement. This is a significant amount to spend in 3 months, requiring business planning and forecasting, and you shouldn’t overextend yourself just to earn points. If you aren’t able to pay your statement in full each month, the value of your points will decrease as you pay interest on the balance you owe.

Before you apply, be sure to plan ahead and analyze your business needs to see if a Chase business card makes sense for you.

How We Calculate Rewards: ValuePenguin calculates the value of rewards by estimating the dollar value of any points, miles or bonuses earned using the card less any associated annual fees. These estimates here are ValuePenguin's alone, not those of the card issuer, and have not been reviewed, approved or otherwise endorsed by the credit card issuer.

Example of how we calculate the rewards rates: When redeemed for travel through Ultimate Rewards, Chase Sapphire Preferred points are worth $0.0125 each. The card awards 2 points on travel and dining and 1 point on everything else. Therefore, we say the card has a 2.5% rewards rate on dining and travel (2 x $0.0125) and a 1.25% rewards rate on everything else (1 x $0.0125).
