The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card is a rebranding of the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card. The two cards share the same point-earning structure, annual fees and many other major features. Overall, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card is a solid all-around card for earning Marriott points. That said, if you don't frequently stay at Marriott properties, it may be well worth considering general travel credit cards to meet your needs.

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card Review: A Great Card for Hotel Stays

Our Thoughts

The v can be one of the most rewarding cards for people who frequently stay at Marriott properties. That's because the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card offers 6 points for every dollar spent at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels plus 2 points for every dollar spent on all other purchases. Simply put, consumers will have a hard time finding another credit card that's as rewarding for hotel stays.

The one downside is that the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card offers no other categories to earn bonus points other than at Marriott properties. Still, if the main reason you're interested in this card is for hotel points, then this shouldn't be a major issue.

An Excellent Sign-Up Bonus

Currently, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card is offering a highly lucrative sign-up bonus of 75,000 points. To earn it, cardholders will have to spend $3,000 within the first three months of account opening. While that's a high spending threshold, this is among one of the most competitive bonuses we've seen recently. The 75,000 points may be able to get you a few free hotel nights at a Marriott property.

Free Night Award Benefit and Other Perks

Perhaps the best feature on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card is the free award night every account anniversary. The perk is good for a one-night hotel stay as long as the redemption value falls at 35,000 points or less. In our experience, finding a property that fits this redemption value shouldn't be an issue. The value of this benefit alone can potentially offset the card's annual fee.

You'll also get automatic Silver Elite status, and every year you spend at least $35,000 on the card, your status will be upgraded to Gold.

Bottom Line

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card can be an excellent credit card, particularly for people who spend a few nights per year at Marriott properties already. If you can earn the card's sign-up bonus, this is one of the better hotel cards available. That said, if you don't already frequently stay at Marriott properties, you may want to consider some alternatives.

Alternatives to the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card: Other Cards for Hotels or Travel

As discussed above, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card is great for Marriott visitors, however, there are other cards users should consider if they frequent more than one hotel chain or if they stay at hotels a little less frequently.

Our Thoughts

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is one of the more dynamic cards available. It offers 2X points on travel and dining at restaurants & 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases worldwide. However, where the card really shines is in its redemption options. The points you earn on this card can be transferred to other travel programs at a 1:1 value.

Cardholders earn Earn 25 points total per $1 spent when you stay at an IHG hotel. Earn 2 points per $1 spent on purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. Earn 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.. When it comes to hotel cards, very few offer as many opportunities to earn bonus points across categories.

Our Thoughts

The Hilton Honors American Express Card is one of a few cards that has ties to the Hilton loyalty program. It offers users 7 Hilton Honors bonus points for each dollar spent with a hotel or resort within the Hilton brand. Additionally, cardholders get 5 bonus points for each dollar spent at U.S. restaurants, U.S. supermarkets and U.S. gas stations. All other purchases earn 3 bonus points per dollar.

The card doesn't charge an annual fee (See Rates & Fees), which means you can begin accruing points without making a dent in your budget. Additionally, the card can be used abroad without incurring a foreign transaction fee. Overall, this is a solid option for someone looking for a hotel card but unwilling to fork over an annual fee. The Hilton portfolio of hotels is massive, meaning more flexibility when redeeming your rewards.

How We Calculate Rewards: ValuePenguin calculates the value of rewards by estimating the dollar value of any points, miles or bonuses earned using the card less any associated annual fees. These estimates here are ValuePenguin's alone, not those of the card issuer, and have not been reviewed, approved or otherwise endorsed by the credit card issuer.

Example of how we calculate the rewards rates: When redeemed for travel through Ultimate Rewards, Chase Sapphire Preferred points are worth $0.0125 each. The card awards 2 points on travel and dining and 1 point on everything else. Therefore, we say the card has a 2.5% rewards rate on dining and travel (2 x $0.0125) and a 1.25% rewards rate on everything else (1 x $0.0125).
